The Bioinformatics and Cancer Genomics Laboratory (Advisor: Mi-ryeong Han) under the Molecular & Medical Science Major, Department of Life Science, Incheon National University, has been selected for the 2025 National Agenda Basic Research Program by the National Research Foundation of Korea. The project aims to conduct basic research for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases through AI-based bio-medical data analysis, one of the 12 national strategic technology fields.
With this selection, the laboratory will carry out a three-year research project titled “AI-based Big Data Analysis of Female Cancers and Mental Disorders.” The goal is to realize precision medicine through clinical prognosis prediction and patient-tailored treatment. By integrating multi-omics data using AI, the team plans to identify disease-specific molecular signatures and develop prognosis prediction models.
In addition, graduate students Hye-yeon Joo (Ph.D. program) and Jin-gwan Jeon (Master’s program), both studying in the Department of Life Science, Graduate School of Incheon National University, were simultaneously selected for the 2025 Graduate Student Research Encouragement Grant Program of the National Research Foundation of Korea for their AI-based bio-convergence research topics under the supervision of Prof. Mi-ryeong Han.
Moving forward, the research team plans to establish a verification and clinical application framework for its predictive models through close collaboration with major domestic tertiary hospitals and universities. Through this, the team is expected to present an innovative and future-oriented research direction in the AI-bio convergence field, effectively responding to national and societal needs.
