"We are pleased to announce that our university has been selected as an outstanding university in the first half of 2023 under the 'Ten Spoons of Rice for One Meal' initiative."
Our university announced that it was selected as an excellent university for Sipsiilbob("Ten Spoons Make One Meal") in the first half of 2023.
Sip-Si-Il-Bob("Ten Spoons Make One Meal") is a non-profit private organization launched in 2014 led by college students and is actively working to spread the culture of sharing on campus. In 2023, 13 universities, including Seoul National University, are participating in the Sip-Si-Il-Bob("Ten Spoons Make One Meal") volunteer work.
Since the first semester of 2018, our university has been conducting Sibilbap("Ten Spoons Make One Meal") activities as a social contribution activity in the school. It has been active for 10 semesters except when the operation was suspended for one semester due to COVID-19.
Sip-Si-Il-Bob("Ten Spoons Make One Meal") is a name conceived from '십시일반(十匙一飯)' which means that when ten people each contribute a spoonful, it can make a meal for one person. It is an activity that has a precious meaning that several people can serve an hour every time there is no class and make a precious meal for a friend in a difficult situation. Sip-Si-Il-Bob("Ten Spoons Make One Meal") was started with the aim of reducing the gap between the rich and the poor on campus and creating equal learning conditions, and is a student-autonomous social contribution activity in which students are independently active.
At our university, a total of 40 volunteers participated in the Sip-Si-Il-Bob("Ten Spoons Make One Meal") activities in the first semester of 2023, and a total of 30 low-income classmates received food tickets. We are currently recruiting volunteers to work in the second semester and plan to work from September 11 to November 24.
Jang Won-jin, a third-year electrical engineering student at our university, expressed his willingness to continue working hard, saying, "It is rewarding to be able to form a virtuous cycle in solidarity with in the university that most sympathizes with youth poverty and youth issues." Our University Social Service Center (Director Park Yong-ho) plans to actively support the Sip-Si-Il-Bob activities so that students can continue to practice understanding, empathy and sharing of others
