Incheon National University to become a leading university in White Bio through the 2023 Biodegradable Plastic Conference

Our university (President Park Jong-tae) announced that the 2023 International Biodegradable Plastic Conference will be held at Songdo Convensia in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon for two days from September 6 to 7.
Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Incheon Metropolitan City, and co-hosted by our university, the Korea Plastic Industry Cooperative, the Korea Institute of Construction and Environment Testing, and the Korea Petrochemical Association, on the 6th of the first day, government officials and heads of bioplastic associations from more than 10 countries will attend to discuss the current status and regulations of biodegradable plastic-related industries by country.
On the 7th, more than 40 companies, including CJ CheilJedang, LG Chem, CJ HDC biosol, POSCO International TotalEnergies-Corbion, SK Microworks, Dongsung Chemical, Dongwon Systems, Samyang Co., Ltd., Starbucks, E-Mart, and Tous Les Jours, will participate in the event, looking back on the current status of bioplastic in Korea and seeking directions for future development.
The conference will examine the current status of industrial technology related to white bio in Korea through product and technology exhibitions of more than 20 biodegradable and bioplastic materials, parts, processing and product production, and circular economic technology-related companies, and simultaneously hold performance exhibitions and business meetings of more than 20 graduate students in master's and doctoral courses through the White Bio Professional Research Personnel Training Project conducted by our university.
In addition, officials from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Incheon Metropolitan City, universities, research institutes, and domestic and foreign biodegradable plastic companies will have exchanges with officials from the Bioplastic Association from more than 10 countries to strengthen the global network.
Our university announced that it will attract the White Bio Research Association, which was launched in July, to the INU Innovation Center and actively foster it as a leading university in the white bio field based on its competitiveness secured through various government department R&D projects, including the Plastic Replacement Materials, Parts and Equipment Industry Support Center and the White Bio Professional Research Personnel Training Project selected after 2021.
President Park Jong-tae of Woori University said, "Through this biodegradable plastic conference, we will actively support Korea's 'White Bio Industry Promotion Strategy' as a regional national university, and through this, we will take the lead in implementing Incheon in the environmental special city by establishing a white-bio plastic belle chain hub by strengthening the university's global network in the white bio sector and proactively responding to global environmental regulations."
